Estonia: Largest number of foreign students in 2018 from Russia, Ukraine

Print versionThe Estonian police issued a residence permit to slightly over 1,400 foreign students in 2018, the largest number of whom came from Russia and Ukraine, reported LETA/BNS.

A total of 1,408 people were granted a study permit
last year, which is four people fewer than in 2017 and 111 more than in 2016,
spokespeople for the Police and Border Guard Board said.
In 2018, a study permit was granted to 176 citizens of
Russia, 167 of Ukraine, 135 of Nigeria, 95 of Bangladesh and 84 of India.
In 2017, the number of Russian citizens who were granted a
study permit was 203, while 151 permits were issued to Ukrainian citizens, 106
to citizens of Bangladesh and 59 to those of India.
