BC, Riga, 09.08.2017.Print version
The government of Latvia on August 8th endorsed two regulations proposed by the Education and Science Ministry under which all elementary school and high school students in Latvia will have to take graduation exams in Latvian, reports LETA.
This means that students attending schools for ethnic minorities, who
currently may choose to take their exams in either Latvian or Russian, will now
have to take their graduation exams in Latvian.
The requirement to only use Latvia will also apply to the teachers
supervising the examination process.
As a result, graduation exam process will change in 108 ethnic minority
high schools, including one vocational school.
Likewise, the new regulations apply to 168 elementary schools.
