Passenger train Kyiv-Riga allowed to arrive in Riga

Transport Minister Talis Linkaits (New Conservative Party) has give permission for a Kyiv-Riga passenger train to arrive in Riga, allowing Latvian and Estonian nationals to return home from Ukraine, the minister said on Twitter, cites LETA.

According to information available on the Transport Ministry's website shows that the train carrying Latvian and Estonian returnees is scheduled to depart from Kyiv on Saturday, March 21, at 12:45 and arrive in Riga on Sunday, March 22 at 8:08. At 19:40 on Sunday, the train will depart from Riga and return to Kyiv on March 23 at 18:58.


The Kyiv-Riga train is provided by Latvijas Dzelzcels (LDz, Latvian Railways) national rail company. 


As reported, in an effort to prevent Covid-19 from spreading further in Latvia, a state of emergency came into force on March 13, setting a number of tough restrictions. The state of emergency is in force until April 14. The emergency measures include a ban on all international passenger transportation by air, sea, roads and railway.
