Georgian citizen presents ''world passport'' to Latvian border guards

Print versionLast week, a Georgian citizen attempted to enter Latvia from Belarus at the Silene Border Control Point. When border guards asked the man his passport, he presented them with documents that do not exist – a ''world passport'' and a ''world identification card''.

As LETA was informed by State Border Guard spokeswoman Jevgenija Poznaka, the man later admitted that he purchased these documents via the Internet.
Even though the man had a valid Georgia passport with him, he immediately asked for asylum in Latvia after showing his ''world passport''.
At the moment, a large portion of persons seeking asylum in Latvia are from Georgia.
