The Foreign Ministry has responded to an offer of an individual to sponsor an airBaltic flight for bringing home Latvian and Lithuanian nationals from Ukraine, Foreign Ministry's spokesman Janis Bekeris told LETA.
The Latvian embassy in Ukraine contacted all nationals who has registered in the Consular Register and could be found through social networks to learn who of them wish to return to Latvia, but had not managed to use the special train from Kyiv.
He said that the airBaltic charter flight sponsored by the individual will help more than 40 Latvian and Lithuanian nationals return to Riga and bring about 50 Ukrainian citizens home from Riga to Ukraine.
Bekeris said that the Foreign Ministry appreciates the individual's offer and contribution, but the name at the person's request is not revealed.
