At the consultations, diplomats from Latvia and Russia discussed bilateral relations, priorities of Latvia’s EU Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and developments in Ukraine.

Speaking bilaterally, it was agreed that cooperation should be continued including in the Intergovernmental Commission. The work of the Border Demarcation Commission was viewed in a positive light. The delegations confirmed their mutual interest in expanding the legal framework for cooperation: draft legislation on direct international railway transport, air traffic, and cooperation in the use and protection of water resources in the Daugava River basin.

To facilitate mutual work, Andrejs Pildegovics and Vladimir Titov signed the Plan for Cooperation between the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Latvia and the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation for 2015-2016.

At the meeting with representatives from the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs, bilateral relations were discussed, including the matters of inter-parliamentary cooperation. In the context of the conflict in Ukraine, the delegations of the Latvian and Russian Foreign Ministries agreed that the work of the trilateral contact group must be continued. Andrejs Pildegovics emphasised the importance of fulfilling the Minsk agreements and Russia's role and responsibility in this process.
