BC, Tallinn, 15.07.2013.Print version
Estonia and Bulgaria agreed to enhance their co-operation in preparation for their respective EU presidencies in 2018, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.

Minister of foreign affairs Urmas Paet and his Bulgarian colleague Kristian Vigenin considered various options for intensifying co-operation between the two countries. “We will both be EU presidencies in 2018, and hence there is need to co-operate in preparing for this event,” said the Estonian minister.

According to him, Estonia supports Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen visa area and is of the position that the process of accession to the Schengen area needs to be based on transparent rules.

“Both Bulgaria and Romania comply with the terms set for acceding to the Schengen area and both countries have made great efforts in the process,” said Paet.
