Asymptomatic Covid-19 patients allowed to end self-isolation already on 7th day in Latvia

Based on available medical data and other countries' experience, family practitioners will be able to allow asymptomatic Covid-19 patients to end strict self-isolation seven and not 14 days after they are diagnosed with the coronavirus infection, Health Ministry spokeswoman Anna Strapcane informed LETA.

As for patients with Covid-19 symptoms, their family physicians will be able to decide on ending isolation starting from the 14th day after the positive test, provided that the patient has had no symptoms for at least three days.

To minimize any risks, recovered patients who are medics, social carers, education employees and others working in close contact with other people will be allowed to end their self-isolation just like others but they will have to wait for another week before they can go back to work.

If they have had no symptoms, these persons will be able to return to work on the 14th day after the diagnosis. But if they have had the symptoms, they will be allowed to resume work 21 days after the diagnosis, provided that they have had no symptoms for at least three days.

As Covid-19 restrictions are being gradually lifted and more and more people travel outside Latvia, the Health Ministry has also decided to continue the provision of free Covid-19 tests to the population.
