Business owners in Europe, including Latvia, are expecting serious problems with preserving quality workforce in 2015, thus companies will be forced to raise employees' salaries in 2015, according to a study conducted by KPMG.

The authors of the study told LETA that companies in Central Asia and Eastern Europe find it harder to hire and keep quality workforce, thus salaries are expected to increase in 2015.

A total of 456 company leaders and business owners from eight countries – the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia – were interviewed for the study. 69% of respondents said that they are planning to increase their employees' salaries in 2015, while 50% said that the raise could be as high as 5%.

37% of respondents said that the average raise will be 2-4.9%. 41% of respondents said that the main reason why salaries will increase is the lack for qualified employees, 28% of respondents mentioned increase in productivity, 25% – improvements in companies' financial situation. 50% of respondents said that they are not planning on implementing any radical staff changes, while 17% expect to increase their staff by at least 5-10%.

The study also shows that 75% of respondents believe that shadow economy is a problem – and tax evasion in particular.
