The Chairman of the Confederation of Employers Council Enn Veskimägi: the organization expects that the number of unemployed persons may grow to 100,000 in near future, writes Postimees Online.

Veskimägi explained that wages in the private sector will fall by 15% this year and the public sector pay should go through a similar decline. "The wages in the public sector are much higher than those in the private sector," he said, characterizing the current situation on the labor market.

According to the chairman of the Confederation of Employers, at a time when the number of unemployed persons will grow to 100,000 persons, raising wages in the public sector, including those of teachers, police officers and rescue officers as well as of pensions should not be tolerated.

Veskimägi noted that although the Government has agreed on cutting the budget by 8 billion kroons, half of the cuts are still ahead.
