Latvia registers EU's fourth highest inflation in September

Annual inflation in Latvia was 1.2% this past September – the fourth highest across the European Union, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat, cites LETA.

In Lithuania, annual inflation remained unchanged, while Estonia registered 0.2% inflation.

 

The highest annual inflation was registered in Romania – 1.8% each, Finland – 1.5%, and Austria – 1.4%.

 

Meanwhile, deflation was registered in eight countries: Bulgaria – 1.4%, Greece – by 1.1%, Hungary – 0.5%, Spain – 0.3%, Poland – 0.2%, as well as Italy, Slovenia and Slovakia – by 0.1% each.

 

Similar to Latvia, Great Britain also registered 1.2% annual inflation in September.


Annual inflation in the euro-zone was at 0.3% in September.

 

In the EU, annual inflation in September was at 0.4%.

 

In comparison with the previous month, Latvia saw a 0.4% increase in consumer prices in September, Estonia saw a 0.1% decrease, but in Lithuania it increased by 0.5%.
