There is no middle class in Lithuania

Danuta Pavilenene, BC, Vilnius, 18.07.2014.Print version
The State Social Insurance Fund Board (SoDra) announced the figures of insured income in Lithuania. The report has revealed that essentially there is no middle class in Lithuania, reports LETA/LETA, referring to Lithuania.

Sadly, 250,000 people earn less than LTL 1,000 (EUR 290). Another 400,000 earn LTL 1000-2000 (EUR 290-580). How can the country prosper if half of taxpayers are beyond or near the poverty line?

Or if not teachers and scientists but legislators are in the top 4 best earners list. The issue was discussed by Zalgiris National Resistance Movement at a round-table discussion.
