Latvia registers EU's third lowest annual inflation in March

Annual inflation in Latvia was 0.3% in March 2014 – the third lowest across the European Union, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat, cites LETA.

Estonia saw 0.7% inflation in March, but Lithuania – 0.4%.

 

Just like Latvia, Italy, Ireland and the Czech Republic also registered 0.3% inflation in March.

 

The lowest annual inflation in was registered in the Netherlands – 0.1%, as well as in Denmark and Hungary – by 0.2% each.

 

The highest annual inflation was registered in Great Britain – 1.6%, as well as in Austria and Malta – by 1.4% each.

 

Meanwhile, deflation was registered in eight countries: Bulgaria – by two%, Greece – by 1.5%, Cyprus – by 0.9%, Portugal and Sweden – by 0.4% each, Spain and Slovakia – by 0.2% each, and Croatia – by 0.1%.

 

Annual inflation in the euro-zone fell to 0.5% in March, compared to 0.7% in February.


In the EU, annual inflation in March reduced to 0.6%, compared to 0.8% in February.


In comparison with the previous month, inflation increased by 0.9% in the eurozone, and by 0.7% in the EU.

 

Latvia saw a 0.3% increase in monthly inflation, while Estonia and Lithuania both registered 0.4% increases.
