Quarter of Lithuanian families did not have their own housing

As the survey carried out by insurance company PZU Lietuva shows, approximately a quarter of Lithuanian families do not have their own housing, reported LETA/ELTA.

The survey revealed that a quarter of those polled (25 percent) rented homes or lived at their parents or relatives'. Mostly these were the people under 35.

Marius Jundulas, CEO at PZU Lietuva, thinks that the survey demonstrates that at present it is far more difficult for young families to stand on their own two feet.

"Young people receive housing loans with difficulties; therefore, they are forced to stay at their parents'. On the other hand, the demand for rented homes will increase since changes in economy in the nearest future are unlikely - the youth will not be able to earn fast and to acquire their own homes," says Jundulas.
