Lithuania's unemployment stood at 12.4% in March

By April 1, 2013, the Lithuanian Labour Exchange (LDB) had registered 230,300 jobseekers, which accounts for 12.4% of all working age people, informs LETA/ELTA.

In March, labour demand grew by 12% as a total 22,000 job vacancies were registered.

 

Long wintry weather influenced the labour market: the number vacancies for fixed-term employment fell by nearly 17% compared to March 2012.

 

Among the major cities of Lithuania, unemployment is lowest in Vilnius (9%), Klaipeda (9.3%) and Siauliai (9.4%), but highest in Panevezys (12.8%).
