Construction input prices in Lithuania grew by 3.2% in May y-o-y

Statistics Lithuania informs that construction input prices in May 2012, compared to April, increased by 0.1%. The monthly change in construction input prices was mostly influenced by an increase in wages and salaries and in prices for building materials and products. Over the year, construction input prices increased by 3.2%.

As for building materials and products, the largest increase in prices over the month was observed in prices for building materials – by 0.7%, plumbing materials – by 0.5, insulation materials and pipes – by 0.3%, decrease – in prices for metal products (by 0.5%).

Over the year (in May 2012, compared to May 2011), construction input prices increased by 3.2%. It was determined by an increase in prices for building materials and products – by 3.8%, wages and salaries – by 2.8%. As regards building materials and products, the largest increase in prices was observed for various types of concrete and mortar – by 7.2%, concrete and reinforced concrete products – by 6.1, finishing and general building materials – by 4.8, metal products – by 3.6, insulation materials – by 3.1%.

The influence on the overall change in construction input prices is determined not only by the rate of change of the construction input component price but also by the relative share of that component in the total value of construction.
