Lithuanian competitiveness to be increased by new programme of Lisbon strategy

The Government has foreseen measures to increase Lithuanian competitiveness in the upcoming three years. The new implementation programme for the National Lisbon strategy in 2008-2010, which was confirmed by the Government on Wednesday, provides the increase in macroeconomic stability, restriction of inflation and encouragement of direct foreign investments.

A lot of attention will be paid to the simplification of legal acts and employment opportunities for youth. It is intended to develop enterprise education, increase possibilities to use the services of taking care of children, and strengthen safety and healthcare of employees, reports ELTA.

 

The new programme has considered the European Commission"s recommendations to Lithuania with regard to encouraging investments to scientific research, innovations and human capital. It will be attemtped to encourage investments of private sector to the area of science and innovations, especially to innovations in traditional sectors, which apply few advanced technologies.

 

The measures included in the programme will be used for increasing the supply of qualified labor force by reforming educational system and vocational training to ensure their quality and conformance with the needs of labor market in the process of implementing the strategy for life-long learning.
