The world will discuss Latvia's part in the crisis for many years, and the country will go down in world economic history as an example of a calm exit from such a situation, said Latvian Institute Director Ojars Kalnins this morning in an interview with the LNT show "900 Seconds".

Leading economists around the world are already speaking of Latvia as an example of how to exit the crisis. According to Kalnins, more and more positive information and opinion have been appearing in recent months, noting that the country is starting to emerge from the crisis, the government has held together for one year and is stable, and the public has endured developments peacefully and without protest, writes LETA.

Kalnins pointed out that in this context Latvia is often being compared with the situation in Greece and Ireland. Many experts predicted that the crisis in Latvia would be much deeper, and that the country would go bankrupt, but these prophecies have not been fulfilled.

However, there is still a negative assessment of the country's corruption and bureaucracy, which is mainly experienced by businesses and foreign investors.

The director of the Institute indicated that there were currently no plans to create a special advertising campaign to improve the country's image, as "the best advertising is our own action. We create our own image with what we do".
