Industrial production output in Latvia in April 2008 has increased by 4.4%

Compared to March 2007, industrial production output1 in April 2008 at constant prices, i.e., considering the influence of the price changes, has increased by 4.4%, according to the seasonally adjusted data (the influence of the season and working days has been taken into account) of the Central Statistical Bureau. Of which in mining and quarrying there was an increase of 2.5%, in manufacturing of 1.3%, but electricity, gas and water supply by 6.3%.

Compared to April of previous year, in April 2008 industrial production output according to seasonally adjusted data has increased by 3.7%. Of which in manufacturing there by 2.6%, in electricity, gas and water supply of 9%, but in mining and quarrying the volume decreased by 12.9%.

1 Includes income from the sales of products and services of industrial character excluding value added tax, finished and unfinished production stock changes at the end and at the beginning of the reference period, and the value of devices produced by the enterprise labour force for own needs, as well as capital repairs of the equipment.

2 The influence of varying number of working days and influence of seasonal repetitions factors, i..e., seasonal fluctuation of production volume in selected economic activities, has been averted.

3 Due to the restructuring of enterprises one of the furniture manufacturers has changed its kind of economic activity, what caused rapid changes in this activity.
