Construction in Latvia decreased by 36.8% in Q3 y-o-y

In the 3rd quarter of 2009 construction volume (at current prices) comprised LVL 288.1 mln, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2009 the volume reduced by 20.2%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings – by 29.5% and construction of civil engineering structures – by 14.5%.

Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2008, construction in Latvia in 3rd quarter of 2009 decreased by 36.8% (working day adjusted data at constant prices). Of which construction of buildings reduced by 53.3% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 19.5%.

 

Construction and repair of motorways and streets diminished by 42.9%,of administrative buildings – by 60.3%, of residential buildings – by 73.1%, of wholesale and retail trade buildings – by 76.0% and of industrial buildings and warehouses – by 78.5%. But construction volume of health care and social care buildings grew by 45.7%, of local pipelines and cable lines – by 28.8% and construction in ports – by 24.5%.

Compared to the corresponding period of previous year, in nine months of 2009 construction volume (at constant prices) decreased by 34.1%. Of which construction of buildings reduced by 48.1% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 17.0%.
