Construction input prices in Lithuania decreased by 1.1% in June

Statistics Lithuania informs that a downward trend in construction input prices, observed since September 2008, continued into June of the current year. Construction input prices in June 2009, as compared to May, decreased by 1.1%.

In June 2009, against May, the strongest impact on the total construction input price change was made by a 0.9% decrease in prices for building materials and products, as well as a 1.5% decrease in wages and salaries and overheads. The overall price change was also influenced by a 0.7% decrease in hourly labour costs on operation of construction machines and mechanisms.

 

The change in prices for building materials and products was mostly conditioned by a 1.9% decrease in prices for insulation materials and various kinds of concrete and mortar, 0.9% – basic building materials. Prices for metallic products, windows and doors in June decreased by 1.1%, plumbing materials – 0.7%, pipes – 0.5%.

 

Over the year (June 2009, against June 2008), construction input prices decreased by 12.8%. Construction costs of residential buildings decreased the most – by 17.2%.
