Survey: Almost half of Lithuanian residents have felt coronavirus impact on income

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted personal income of almost half of Lithuania's residents, a recent survey has shown, writes LETA/BNS.

Commissioned by the European Parliament, the survey revealed the pandemic affected personal income of 47 percent of residents in the country. And 24% says they have not felt the effect but expect to feel it in the future.


19% said the pandemic had not affected their personal income, and 10% did not know.


According to the survey, residents of Cyprus have felt the biggest impact on their personal income (57%), followed by Greece, Spain and Romania (55% each) and Bulgaria (53%). The smallest impact has been felt in Denmark (17%), Luxembourg (19%), and the Netherlands and Finland (21%) each.


44% of residents of Latvia said they had felt the impact on personal revenue, and another 29% expected it in the future. 22% believe they will not feel the impact, and 5% didn’t know. In Estonia, the percentages stood at 42%, 31%, 25% and 2% respectively.


Across the EU on average, 39% of residents have felt the impact on personal income, and 27% expect it in the future, and the same percentage of people believe the virus will not affect their income.


The survey of 24,800 people aged 16-64 was carried out by Kantar in 27 EU member states from September 27 to October 7.
