Latvia: On consumer price changes in April 2008
Print versionThe price increase of electricity by 39.2% had the greatest impact on price changes in April 2008.
Prices continued to rise for bread and cereals, meat, oils and fats, vegetables, alcoholic beverages as well as water supply, heat energy, diesel fuel, pharmaceutical products, footwear, wearing apparel, non-durable household goods, books and various services.
Due to the discounts the prices of milk and dairy products, cheese, eggs, sugar, juices and soft drinks decreased. TV, audio, video, photo and data processing equipment as well as telephones became cheaper. The prices of flowers, airline tickets, and tools for house and garden went down.
Compared to April of the year 2007, the consumer prices have increased by 17.5%, of which prices for goods increased by 17.6%, but for services – by 17.3%.
Compared to previous 12 months, the average consumer price level has increased by 13.0%.
