In November, retail trade turnover in Latvia increased by 4.0%

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to November 2017, in November 2018 total retail trade turnover rose by 4%. Turnover of retail trade in food products increased by 4.4 %, turnover of retail trade in non-food products, except for retail sale of automotive fuel, rose by 5.6%, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel reduced by 1.1%.

As compared to the November of the previous year, within the non-food products group the most significant turnover growth was recorded in retail sale in non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 31.1%), retail sale of hardware, paints and glass (14.7%), and retail sale of information and communication equipment (10.2%). The largest turnover drop was recorded in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 11.2%), retail sale via stalls or markets (11.2%), as well as retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (5.1%).


The total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 8.1% (not taking into account the calendar influence).




Compared to October, in November 2018 the total turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 2.3%, of which in retail sale of food products - by 0.9%, in retail sale of non-food products, except for retail sale of automotive fuel - by 3.1%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel increased by 3.4%.


The largest turnover increase was recorded in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 12.8%), retail sale via stalls and markets (of 6.1%), as well as in retail sale of electrical household appliances (of 6.0%).


Turnover drop was registered in retail sale of cosmetic and toilet articles (of 1.4%), retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores (of 0.6%).


Compared to October, in November 2018 the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) decreased by 2.2%.
