Latvia posts EU's smallest increase in employment in Q2

During the 2nd quarter of 2017, Latvia recorded the smallest annual increase in employment among the European Union’s member states, writes LETA, according to the latest Eurostat data.
The number of employed people against Latvia’s entire population increase
by 0.4% in the second quarter of 2017.
Lithuania was the only EU member which recorded a drop in employment - by
0.8%.
In other EU member states employment grew in the second quarter of 2017.
The steepest increases were recorded in Romania (+5.3%), Malta (+4.9%), Cyprus
(+3.5%), as well as Croatia (+3.3%).
In Estonia, employment rose 2.6% year-on-year in the second quarter.
Across the EU, employment increased 1.8% in the second quarter when compared
to the same period last year, and the eurozone saw a 1.7% increase.
Compared to the first quarter of 2017, employment edged up 0.3% in the EU
and 0.4% in the eurozone.
