Latvia’s Aldaris has become part of the Carlsberg group

Latvia's largest brewery Aldaris has become part of the Carlsberg group and thus anticipates new opportunities in the Northern European region, as LETA was informed by head of Aldaris Corporate Communications Ilmars Jargans.

For instance, Aldaris will be able to acquire Calrsberg's experience in various aspects of the company's activity.

 

Carlsberg Group, after acquiring also Scottish&Newcastle, is introducing a new structural scheme and from now on its activity will be organized in four regions – Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Western Europe and Asia.

 

The Eastern Europe region comprises the companies from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Baltic Beverage Holding group (BBH) will become part of the Northern Europe region.

 

Northern Europe region includes the enterprises from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and three Baltic countries – Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, including Aldaris.

 

Western Europe region comprises breweries from United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Greece, as well as Poland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia.

 

Region of Asia includes breweries in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka and India.

 

Aldaris will have the possibility to use the research centers Kronenbourg Innovation Center and Carlsberg Research Center for potential development of innovations.

 

Aldaris employees, becoming part of the 40,000 people Carlsberg staff, will have wider international experience exchange, growth and career opportunities. So far, Aldaris employees only had international career opportunities within the 'BBH group in the Baltic States.

 

Carlsberg is one of the largest brewery groups and among the fastest growing and well known beer brands worldwide.

 

As reported, the turnover of Latvian biggest beer producer Aldaris in 2007 grew 30%, reaching LVL 37 million.

 

The enterprise's strategy has allowed to achieve high profitability and LVL 6.8 million of profit. In 2007, Aldaris paid a total of LVL 13.8 million in taxes, which is two million more than last year.

 

The 30% increase of the turnover was reached not only by maximizing the sales volume, but also by reorganizing the product portfolio. Special attention was paid to the "premium" brands: Luksus, Zelta, Carlsberg, Ice Beer, Dlight.

 

Nearly LVL 42 million has been invested into the company's technology and innovations since BBH became the key Aldaris shareholder.

 

BBH holds an 84.88% interest in Aldaris. The owners of BBH are the British company Scottish and Newcastle and the Danish brewery Carlsberg.

BBH is the owner of the largest breweries in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia: Aldaris, Svyturys-Utenos alus un Saku Brewery, it also holds large stakes in several Russian breweries and owns several beer producers in other Eastern European countries.
