Population of Russian citizens in Latvia has grown by 28,000 people over decade

From 2007 to 2017, The population of Russian citizens in Latvia has increased by 28,060 people, according to data from the Latvian Office of Citizenship and Migrations Affairs, cites LETA.
At the
beginning of 2007, there were 27,380 Russian citizens residing in Latvia, but
by January 1, 2017, their number had grown to 55,440. This figure, however, is
smaller than 55,989, recorded a year ago.
Compared to be beginning of 2007 the population of
ethnic Russians with Latvian citizenship has declined by 13,559 people from
365,459 people, while the population of ethnic Russians without citizenship has
dropped by 92,667.
Konstantin Zatulin, a member of the Russian State Duma and the ruling United Russia party,
has proposed granting Russian citizenship to all residents of the former
Russian empire or the Soviet Union and their direct descendants, the Russian
newspaper Kommersant reported.
