Avg milk purchase price in Estonia soars 40% on year

The average purchase price of raw milk in Estonia was 325.53 euros per ton in February, 40% higher than in the same month a year ago, Statistics Estonia said on Wednesday.
Dairy companies purchased 54,400 tons of milk during the
month, 5.6% less than in February 2016.
Compared to January, the purchase price of milk decreased by
0.3% and the amount purchased was smaller by 8%.
The production of drinking milk was unchanged from February
2016 at 7,900 tons. The output of cream, 1,900 tons, was also on the level of
February 2016. The output of soured milk decreased 3% to 3,200 tons and the
output of butter dropped 40% to 300 tons. The output of cheese was on a par
with February at 3,400 tons.
