Latvian unemployment down to 8.4% in February

In February 2017, Latvia’s registered unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points (ppt) to 8.4%, according to information released by the State Employment Agency writes LETA.
The lowest unemployment rate was recorded in Riga region where 5.3% of the population were out of work at the end of February, while the eastern Latvian province of Latgale reported the highest jobless rate – 18.2%. In Kurzeme the unemployment rate was 10.5%, in Vidzeme 9.2% and in Zemgale 8.5%.
In Riga, the unemployment rate was 5.7% at the end of February.
In late February 2016, Latvia’s jobless rate was 9.2%.
