Latvia records EU's second steepest increase in industrial production output in December

This past December, Latvia recorded the European Union's second highest increase in industrial production year-on-year, according to Eurostat report published today.

Latvia's industrial production output in December 2016 was 11.5% higher than in December 2015.


Croatia registered the EU's steepest increase in industrial production in December - 14.9%. Denmark's industrial production output rose 11.1%, followed by Slovenia - 10.2%, and Estonia - 10%. Industrial production in Lithuania increased 5.2% on December 2015.


Among the 25 member states for which data are available, industrial production increased in 21 EU member states and decreased in four.


The only reductions were registered in Luxembourg - by 5.1%, Ireland - by 1.8%, as well as in Germany and Sweden - by 0.8% each.


Compared to this past November, industrial production output increased in 16 EU countries, but reduced in nine.


M-o-m industrial production output rose the most in Croatia (3.9%), Greece (2.4%) and Malta (3.7%), Industrial production output in Latvia in December 2016, compared to the previous month, increased by 0.2%, but in Lithuania - by 1.1%. Meanwhile, in Estonia it fell by 1%.
