Around 9% of Lithuanians make shopping trips to neighboring Poland on a regular basis, according to a poll released by the Delfi news website on Tuesday writes LETA/BNS.

In the poll, people were asked if they traveled to Poland to do their shopping.

Some 58.1% of respondents answered "No, and I am not planning to". Some 11.4% said they had traveled to Poland for shopping several times and seven percent said they had done so "once or twice". Some 8.7% said that they were regularly shopping in the neighboring country. Another 13.1% said they had not done so before but were planning to.

Delfi.lt told that Spinter Tyrimai had polled 1,010 people aged between 18 and 75 years on Jan. 17 to 25.

Economists say that some products are cheaper in Poland than in Lithuania due to lower taxes and economies of scale.
