Latvia records third highest inflation in EU in October

In October this year, Latvia recorded the third highest inflation rate among EU member states, according to the latest data released on Thursday by Eurostat writes LETA.

Like in the Portugal, Hungary and Sweden, Latvian consumer prices rose 1.1% y-o-y in October. Consumer prices rose 1% in Estonia, and also in Luxembourg, Slovenia and Germany, while Lithuania showed a 0.7% inflation in October.


Latvia saw its consumer prices moving up 0.5 % from September. Lithuania’s monthly inflation was 0.7 % and Estonian consumer prices dropped 0.5 %.

In 22 EU member states recorded annual inflation in October, while deflation, was recorded in Bulgaria (-1%), Cyprus (-1%), Ireland (-0.4%), Croatia (-0.3%), Slovakia (-0.3%), and Italy (-0.1%).


The EU annual inflation rate was 0.5% in October compared to 0.4% in September. Eurozone consumer prices also rose 0.5%.


As compared to the previous month, consumer prices rose 0.2% in the EU and the eurozone in October.
