In Latvia 45.1% of employees receive up to EUR 450 in net monthly wage in Latvia

In the second quarter of this year, 45.1% of employees in Latvia received up to EUR 450 in net monthly wage in their main job, which is a 3.8 percentage points reduction from the second quarter of 2015, the Central Statistics Bureau (CSB) reported.

Of these employees, 20.9% received the minimum pay or less, which was a  2 percentage points reduction from the same quarter of last year when the minimum wage was paid to 22.9% of employees.

 

For 30.1% of employees the net monthly wage was EUR 450-700 (31.3% in Q2 2015), 17.3% received EUR 700-1,400 (13.6%), and 2.5% were paid over EUR 1,400 in monthly wages as compared to 1.8% a year ago.

 

The CSB also reported that in the second quarter of 2016 wages had not been calculated (due to the employee being on an unpaid leave, on a maternity leave, etc.) or had been calculated but had not been paid to 3.5% of employees (2.2% in Q1 2015). There were also 1.5% of employees (2.2% a year ago) who would not disclose their wages.
