Three fourths of Estonians ready to work outside Tallinn - survey

BC, Tallinn, 07.07.2016.Print version
Slightly more than 75 percent of Estonians are ready to work outside the capital Tallinn provided they find a job with an equal position and pay, it appears from a survey taken by the recruitment services company CV Keskus, cites LETA/BNS.

"The claim that international experience shows that an institution will lose more than 90%  of staff because of relocation as the majority are not prepared to move to a smaller town or into a rural area for work might not hold true in Estonia," marketing manager at CV Keskus  Henry Auvaart said.

According to Auvaart, going to work "in the countryside" is not a problem for 75% of the people if they find an equal job there or the employer makes the organization of work more flexible. "The executors of the state reform thus should consider how much freedom they are prepared to grant to state employees – would working from home be acceptable?" he observed.

"Nowadays less than 10%t of job offers are outside major population hubs, so many job seekers have to move into towns solely because of employment. So, when it comes to the state reform, remigration into rural areas which would allow many employees to return to their home neighborhood also could be discussed," Auvaart said.
