As many as 70% people in Latvia consider themselves happy which is an increase from 59% a year ago, informs LETA, according to the Amigo Happiness Index produced by Amigo telecommunications operator.

The survey showed that adults had felt happier in childhood and that old and lonely people prevailed among respondents feeling unhappiest.

Majority of respondents or 57% said they relied on their relatives for support in hard times and every third would turn to their friends for help. Only one-third is prepared to help strangers in trouble.

Amigo carried out its survey in December 2015, interviewing 1,000 people throughout Latvia.

Amigo brand belongs to ZetCom telecommunications company which is fully owned by Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) mobile telecommunications operator.
