The number of employers in Lithuania increased by 2,109 over the year and the number of jobs occupied rose by 17,870, experts of Creditreform Lietuva, the Lithuanian credit risk assessment company, have calculated based on the data from the state social insurance fund (Sodra), reports LETA/BNS.

According to their assessments, large and well-known companies were not the only ones to increase their workforce. However, the pace of small business establishment and small business hiring was slower than the year before, the Lietuvos Zinios daily reports on Monday.

“The outgoing year has once again brought pleasant changes in the labor market. However, as compared to 2014, the pace of job creation and new employers’ establishment was more subdued. For example, the number of workers in the Lithuanian companies increased by 29,000 and the number of employers rose by 4,000 in the past year [between Dec. 1, 2013 and Dec. 1, 2014]. This year, these changes have been much more modest,” Saulius Zilinskas, Creditreform Lietuva CEO, told the daily.

Among privately-owned companies, the biggest increases in staff numbers, in absolute terms, were recorded in Krekenavos Agrofirma (+585), the Lithuanian branch of Danske Bank (+450) and the cleaning services provider Svaros Broliai (+412).
