Unemployment level in Latvia decreased to 8.5% in August

The unemployment level in Latvia is beginning to decline, and at the end of August it was 8.5% of the total economically-active population, reports LETA, according to data from the State Employment Agency.
For the three past months, the unemployment level was 8.6%.
At the beginning of August, 80,671 unemployed persons were registered with the State Employment Agency, but at the end of August – 79,825. The number of job seekers reduced by 846 over a month.
The lowest unemployment level in August was registered in Riga Region – 5.3%, but the highest – 18.4% – in Latgale province. The unemployment level in both these regions in August reduced 0.1%.
Meanwhile, the unemployment level in Kurzeme province was 10.7%, in Vidzeme – 9.2%, and Zemgale – 8%.
