The euro area recorded a EUR 26.4 bln surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in June

The first estimate for euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world in June 2015 was EUR 182.7 billion, an increase of 12% compared with June 2014 (EUR 162.7 billion). Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 156.4 billion, a rise of 7% compared with June 2014 (EUR 146.7 billion). As a result, the euro area recorded a EUR 26.4 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in June 2015, compared with +EUR 16.0 billion in June 2014, writes LETA/ELTA.

Intra-euro area trade rose to EUR 151.2 billion in June 2015, up by 10% compared with June 2014, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union said.

 

In January to June 2015, euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world rose to EUR 1,011.7 billion (an increase of 6% compared with January-June 2014), while imports rose to EUR 896.7 billion (an increase of 3% compared with January-June 2014). As a result the euro-area recorded a surplus of EUR 115.0 billion, compared with a +EUR 76.4 billion in January-June 2014. Intra-euro area trade rose to EUR 850.7 billion in January-June 2015, up by 3% compared with January-June 2014.

 

The first estimate for extra-EU exports of goods in June 2015 was EUR 159.7 billion, up by 13% compared with June 2014 (EUR 141.4 billion). Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 149.3 billion, up by 7% compared with June 2014 (EUR 139.4 billion). As a result, the EU recorded a EUR 10.4 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in June 2015, compared with +EUR 2.0 billion in June 2014. Intra-EU trade rose to EUR 271.3 billion in June 2015, +10% compared with June 2014.

 

In January to June 2015, extra-EU exports of goods rose to EUR 887.9 billion (an increase of 7% compared with January-June 2014), while imports rose to EUR 864.6 billion (an increase of 4% compared with January-June 2014). As a result, the EU recorded a surplus of EUR 23.3 billion, compared with –EUR 3.8 billion in January-June 2014. Intra-EU trade rose to EUR 1532.9 billion in January-June 2015, +4% compared with January-June 2014.

 

In January-June 2015, Lithuania's extra-EU exports stood at EUR 4 billion, down by 18% compared to January-June 2014. Extra-EU imports stood at EUR 4.3 billion, up by 1% compared with January-June 2014. As a result, Lithuania recorded extra-EU trade deficit of –EUR 0.3 billion.

 

In January-June 2015, Lithuania's intra-EU exports totalled EUR 7 billion, up by 7% year-on-year. Intra-EU imports were at EUR 8.3 billion, up by 3% year-on-year. Therefore, Lithuania's intra-EU trade deficit was –EUR 1.3 billion.
