Producer prices in Latvia registered the smallest reduction in the EU in May

In May 2015, producer prices in Latvia declined 0.1% from April, which was the smallest reduction in the EU, reports LETA, according to the latest report released by the EU statistical office Eurostat.

Overall, producer prices fell in 10 countries, remained unchanged in Germany, Cyprus, Luxembourg and Malta, but increased in 14 countries.

 

The largest monthly increase in producer prices was registered in Hungary – 1.6%, Belgium – 0.8%, as well as Greece, Portugal and Great Britain – by 0.7%.

 

The largest monthly reduction in producer prices was registered in Estonia – by 0.9%, followed by the Netherlands – by 0.8%, and France – 0.6%.

 

In Lithuania, producer prices decreased 0.4% from April.

 

In all the EU member states for which data are available, producer prices increased 0.1% May from April, and the eurozone remained unchanged.

 

Compared to May 2014, producer prices in the EU decreased 2.6% and in the eurozone 2%.

 

In year-on-year comparison, producer prices in Latvia reduced by 0.3%, but in Estonia and Lithuania by 2.5% and 7.9%, respectively.
