Latvia registers EU's 12th fastest growth in Q1

Latvia's economy grew by 2% in the first quarter of the year 2015, when compared to the same quarter last year, which was the 12th largest growth in the EU, reports LETA, according to Eurostat.

Latvia also registered faster growth than in Lithuania and Estonia, where GDP growth in the first quarter of the year increased by 1.5% and 1.8% respectively.

 

Romania and the Czech Republic registered the largest growth in the EU in the first quarter – by 4.2% each, followed by Poland – 3.5%, Hungary – 3.3%, Slovenia – 3%, and Slovakia – 2.9%.

 

The slowest growth of 0.1% was registered in Croatia, Italy, Austria and Finland.

 

Meanwhile, GDP growth in the EU increased by 1.5% in Q1, but in the eurozone – by 1%.
