The Parex banka appointed Sofia Krist as the Managing Director of the bank in the beginning of March, writes LETA with referring to Äripäev Online.

The decision still requires approval from the Financial Supervisory Authority and from the Latvian Financial and Capital Market Commission.

The former Managing Director of the Estonian branch of Parex banka Eizens Slava decided to leave the position.

Gatis Kokins, the Vice President of Parex banka in charge of customer service, institutional and private banking, stated that the bank's management board will be increasingly relying on local employees and plans to abandon the principle of having Latvians lead the foreign branches and subsidiaries of the bank.

Sofia Krist has been working in Parex banka since April of 2004, starting her career as an administrator of corporate customers. Until March, Krist worked as the director of sales and of customers service.

The Estonian branch of Parex banka has been operating in Tallinn since the year 2004
