Latvia has fifth lowest electricity and gas prices in EU

Electricity and gas prices of Latvian households was the fifth lowest in the European Union in the second half of last year, reports LETA, according to Eurostat.

The average household electricity price amounted to EUR 13 per 100 kWh in Latvia in the second half of 2014, the lowest price in the Baltic States and the fifth lowest in the EU.

 

In Estonia, the average household electricity price reached EUR 13.3 per 100 kWh, the seventh lowest in the EU, in Lithuania – EUR 13.2 per 100 kWh – the fifth lowest in the EU.

 

Expressed in euros, the lowest average household electricity price in the second half of 2014 was recorded in Bulgaria – EUR 9 per 100 kWh, the highest – in Denmark – EUR 30.4 per 100 kWh.

Household gas prices stood at EUR 4.9 per 100 kWh in Latvia in the second half of 2014, the fifth lowest price across the EU.

 

In Estonia, the average household gas price amounted to EUR 4.9 per 100 kWh, the same as in Latvia, but in Lithuania – EUR 5 per 100 kWh – the sixth lowest in the EU.

 

The lowest average household gas price was observed in Romania – EUR 3.2 per 100 kWh, the highest – in Sweden – EUR 11.4 per 100 kWh.
