Latvia registers EU's third highest inflation rate in April

The consumer price level in Latvia in April 2015, compared with the same month of the previous year, increased 0.6%, which was the third highest increase in the EU, reports LETA, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat.

Just like Latvia, Romania also registered a 0.6% increase in annual inflation.

 

Meanwhile, deflation was registered in 12 member states, while 12 member states recorded inflation. Consumer prices in Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Hungary remained unchanged.

 

The largest deflation level was registered in Greece – 1.8%, followed by Cyprus – 1.7%, as well as Poland and Bulgaria – by 0.9% each.

 

The largest inflation was registered in Malta – by 1.4%, followed by Austria – 0.9%.

 

Annual deflation in the eurozone in April remain unchanged when compared to April of 2014, but annual deflation in the EU reduced by 0.1%.

 

Meanwhile, when compared to the previous month, consumer prices in the eurozone increased by 0.2%, but in the EU – by 0.3%.

 

In Latvia, month-on-month inflation increased by 0.6%.

 

Monthly inflation in Lithuania increased by 0.7%, but in Estonia – by 0.6%.
