Estonian families spend around 248 million euros a year on culture and sport, Äripäev.ee/LETA cites Statistics Estonia.

A visitor of a cultural or sporting event spends an average of 14 euros during the visit, reported Statistics Estonia Leading Statistician-Methodologist Kutt Kommel.

An average of 6.8 euros is paid for the ticket, 3.8 euros for food and drinks at the event venue or outside and 2.5 euros for transport and parking. 1 euro is spent on other costs (for example, programme, souvenirs) euro.

Kommel said the people spent most while visiting a concert, on average, 38 euros. Surprisingly, it is cheaper to visit the theatre: 36 euros.

The cheapest entertainment is cinema – an average of 19 euros per household. Considering the number of visits to the cinema, the total cinema costs are higher. In 2013, households spent on cinema visits a total of 67 million euros, representing 27% of total spending on cultural and sporting events visits, stated Kommel.

Concert visitors spent a total of nearly 57 million euros (23%), theatre, opera, ballet or dance performances visitors nearly 55 million euros (22%), visitors of museums, exhibitions and heritage sites more than 28 million euros (11.5%), visitors of sports and other cultural events, each approximately 20 million (8% each).

Kommel said that outside the event venue, most money is spent on transport. "The total spending of households annually on transport while visiting cultural or sporting events is around 41.5 million euros, 26.3 million euros is spent on eating-drinking and 6.2 million euros on other things (e.g., accommodation)," he said.

The most significant additional costs are associated with attending the cinema, about 18.5 million.
