At a conference of the parliamentary speakers of the European Union (EU) in Paris, Valinskas met with French National Assembly Speaker Bernard Accoyer and highlighted that France had been an important partner of Lithuania since the restitution of the state’s independence.
"Lithuania is prepared to accept rich and professional experience of France in the field of nuclear energy. It would be a new step in the bilateral relations. We can rejoice at wonderful political relationship and parliamentary relations, now it is time to strengthen economic cooperation," Valinskas said.
At the meeting with Seimas Speaker of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, Valinskas noted that Lithuania would continue evaluating Poland as its strategic partner in a project on a new nuclear power plant. The parliamentary speakers agreed to meet in the nearest future and to accelerate the solution of bilateral issues.
