Producer prices decreased by 1.2% in January in EU

In January 2015, producer prices in Latvia rose 0.4% from December 2014, which was the largest increase in the EU, according to the latest report released by the EU statistical office Eurostat. In all the EU member states for which data are available, producer prices decreased 1.2% in January from December, writes LETA.

Only Luxembourg and Malta saw increases in producer prices in January – by 0.1% each, while the producer price level in Romania and Slovakia remained unchanged.

 

The largest monthly reduction in producer prices was registered in the Netherlands – by 3.6%, followed by Lithuania – by 3.1%, and Great Britain – 2.9%.

 

In Estonia, producer prices reduced by 1.2% in January.

 

In all the EU member states for which data are available, producer prices decreased 1.2% in January from December, and the eurozone recorded a 0.9% drop.

 

Compared to January 2014, producer prices in the EU decreased 4.1% and in the eurozone 3.4%.


In year-on-year comparison, producer prices in Latvia reduced by 0.1% in January.

 

The greatest decreases were registered in the Netherlands – 10.9%, Lithuania – 10.6%, and Great Britain – by 9.5%.

 

Producer prices in Estonia, year-on-year, decreased by 3.3% in January.
