Unemployment rate in Latvia to fall to 9.6% in 2015

Print versionUnemployment will continue to decrease and employment to increase in 2015 – the unemployment rate will go down to 9.6%, whereas employment level could reach 60.3%, the Latvian Economy Ministry predicts, cites LETA.

According to the Economy Ministry's report on the macroeconomic situation in Latvia, a slight increase in the number of employed persons is expected this year – it could increase just 0.5% or by 4,800 persons as compared to 2014.
The total number of employed persons could reach 889,000 in 2015.
The ministry also estimates that unemployment in 2014 could have decreased one percentage point from 2013 to 10.9%. At the same time, employment rate in the 15-74 age group increased to 59.1%.
