Estonia’s EMT and banks start testing "mobile bank card" prototype

BC, Tallinn, 30.10.2013.Print version
Estonian mobile phone operator EMT in cooperation with Danske Bank, Nordea Pank, SEB Pank, Swedbank and Tallinna Kaubamaja Grupp launch a public pilot project on November 1, aiming to test the prototype solution of NFC (Near Field Communication) service "Bank Card in Mobile Phone", LETA/Postimees Online reports.

During the pilot project, a solution is tested where a client can use a mobile bank card just like using an ordinary bank card.

Instead of entering the card in a payment terminal, the terminal has to be touched with a phone and the payment has been conducted.

The test group includes 150 people who test the new payment solution in the Kaubamaja department store's Beauty World and Food World, Järve and Pirita Selver supermarkets and select cafes.
