The information system e-Notary used by notaries in Estonia was one of the top five solutions in its category at the European e-inclusion contest, writes Postimees Online.

“Finalists were selected according to the innovative approach to solving the e-inclusion problem and according to real solutions that were reached,” noted Ingmar Vali, the head of the department of court registers of the Centre of Registers and Information Systems of the Ministry of Justice.

The e-Notary information system was awarded in the category of inclusion of public services. Vali explained that e-Notary system achieved the situation where customers are no longer forced to run from one State institution to another – notaries are able to get the necessary information by themselves.

“e-Notary has been used by all notaries in Estonia for the second year already. It will help get information from databases that are the basis for a contract, to formulate contract conditions, forward the contracts to different relevant registers and follow the process of executing of a contract,” he added. Vali stated that as a technological solution, e-Notary will help ensure legal certainty as well.
