Postimees Online: the recent top list, published by the World Economic Forum, indicates that Estonia is the 18th among the countries all over the world in terms of the use of information and communications technology, writes LETA.

Estonia's position is the best among the Eastern European countries, narrowly ahead of France and Germany.

Estonia improved by two positions in comparison to last year; its index has also improved slightly in one year. Japan has the same index as Estonia.

The global information technology report lists countries in terms of their competitiveness and development in the digital world. The World Economic Forum is compiling the list in co-operation with the leading international business school INSEAD for seven years already. This year, particular emphasis was placed on the relationship between mobility and information and communications technology.

Estonia achieved a particularly good result in the aspect of how often are the new ICT solutions used every day, ranking ninth on the global level. Estonia's particular strengths are also the availability of online the Government services (ranking first) and the access of schools into the internet (ranking second) as well as IT legislation as well as the use of IT in the public and business sectors.
